Mike Carroll shares an exciting talk with Coal Creek Canyon SkyWatchers June 1, 2024 on the specifics about the on-going NASA Artemis Moon exploration program, including a look at water at the lunar south pole. Is that resource there in any useful form?
He also gave the group a Crater 101 lesson, a quick survey of craters and how they’ve been viewed throughout history. This will also be helpful to inquisitive explorers that are new to astronomy or planetary science.
Enjoy the romp around the nearby solar system through words, photos and Mike’s amazing artwork! He will also have his books to sell and sign, including his latest that was recently released entitled Planet Earths: Past and Present. The book explores the Earths of the past, comparing them to the planets around us today. Mike is the author of more than 30 books and his artwork has appeared in several hundred magazines throughout the world.
Local Sky Watcher Leonard David will also give us an update on international space missions.
At our April 27th Zoom-only meeting, we shared some of the great images and photos that our Sky Watchers captured both in the path of “Totality” and of our local partial eclipse. If you haven’t shared yours or have more to share, please bring them to our June 1st meeting on a thumb drive, or if on Zoom, we’ll have you offer Share Screen contributions.
