Learn about The World’s Greatest Modern-Day Explorers and How You Can Lend a Hand Wherever You Go – a presentation by Jeff Blumenfeld based upon his books – Get Sponsored: A Funding Guide for Explorers, Adventurers and Would-Be World Travelers and Travel With Purpose: A Field Guide to Voluntourism

Jeff has presented at The Explorers Club, The Adventurers Club, the American Mountaineering Museum, and off the coast of Antarctica. His talk includes illustrations of many noteworthy adventures including Antarctic mountain climbing, the longest sea voyage by an intrepid explorer…even adventure golf across Mongolia!

Blumenfeld is illustrating his talk with some 40 photographs taken all over the world, including a selection from his Antarctic and Nepal expeditions. He’ll also explain the concept of “voluntourism” – how to see the world while you make a difference.

A resident of Boulder, Jeff is a Fellow of The Explorers Club where he chairs the Rocky Mountain chapter, and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He is recipient of the Iceland Exploration Museum Leif Erikson Award for Exploration History 2020. He is editor of Expedition News, a 30-year-old monthly newsletter that covers the adventure marketing world – http://expeditionnews.com

Jeff’s books will be available at our in-person meeting to buy and have him sign, or you can find them on Amazon.com.

During our meeting, local Sky Watcher Leonard David will also report on international space missions. We will also have an update on our last month’s speaker Bob Grimm’s science instrument that in on a spacecraft on its way to the Moon!

To our astrophotographers: Please send a few of your recent or favorite images to John Williams to share at our February 22nd meeting, or be ready to “Share Screen” if you are on Zoom for the meeting. John’s email is – terrazoomer@yahoo.com

Everyone is welcome at our meetings – and this is one that I think a lot of folks would enjoy, including kids – since it’s down to Earth!  CCC Community Hall is at 31528 CO-72, Golden 80403. We’ll send you this email again the day of the meeting as a reminder. We usually record our meetings for those who want to watch them later from a link on our website.

CHECK OUT THE PLANETS!

Watch the evening skies as the planets take their places on the great stage. Have your telescopes or binoculars ready and come to our meeting or Zoom in this Saturday and we’ll tell you when and where to look. From west to east, Saturn, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus and Neptune will splay across the sky, appearing as the sky grows darker.
