We are excited to announce that our September 6th meeting will feature a major researcher in the exploration of space. Dr. Bruce Jakosky is Professor Emeritus from the University of Colorado Boulder.
“Planetary habitability and the search for life elsewhere” is the theme of Jakosky’s talk. “We are looking for evidence for life both in our solar system and on planets outside orbiting other stars,” he explains.“What does the evidence show, and what are the prospects in the near future?”
Among the many space milestones chalked up by Jakosky is his leadership role heading up the team in the university’s NASA Astrobiology Institute as well as being a Principal Investigator for the MAVEN Mars orbiter. He has been involved with a number of other NASA space missions, including Viking, the Solar Mesosphere Explorer, Clementine, Mars Observer, Mars Global Surveyor and Mars Odyssey.
Join us to learn about the search and implications for finding life beyond Earth!
Everyone is welcome at our meetings. CCC Community Hall is at 31528 Highway 72, Golden 80403. We usually record our meetings for those who want to watch them later from a link on our website at – https://sky-watchers.co
During our meeting, local Sky Watcher Leonard David will also provide an update on international space missions. Sky Watcher John Williams and some of our other astrophotographers will share some of their astrophotography as well.
