Join us for an informative talk on dealing with the growing menace of Earth-circling space junk. We are delighted to have our local CCC resident Dr. Hanspeter Schaub as our presenter. As an internationally recognized expert on space, Dr. Schaub heads the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Our planet is encircled by human-made riff-raff and Dr. Schaub will provide an “electrifying” story of tractor beams and charging space debris to de-clutter the cosmos. The talk explores more than two decades of research into disposing of, detumbling, and coming to grips with large debris adrift in space.
Come listen to this fascinating presentation and learn about how award-winning Professor Schaub and his talented cadre of aerospace engineering students are involved with NASA treks to Mars, asteroids and other destinations!
During our meeting, local Sky Watcher Leonard David will also provide an update on international space missions.
